The Number of Youths ending up in the Corrections Institution is Increasing every year.
This was revealed by the Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service- Commander -Francis Kean Today.
He was speaking during the Launch of the Yellow Ribbon Sow a Seed Program focused on getting as many Volunteers as possible to become Mentors to support Youths who have fallen on the wrong side of the Law.
Kean says Families, communities and organizations like the church play a crucial part in rehabilitating and providing a second Chance to youths who are in the corrections Facility to Break the Stigma for inmates. He thanked the various Provinces around Fiji and the Methodist church for coming on board to support the program.
Petty Theft and aggravated Robbery with violence are some of the crimes committed by youths. Kean says the mentorship program is solely focused on providing further education, skills and trade training for the inmates.
