The National Domestic Violence Helpline has recorded a number of calls by men who have been abused in the month of April.
The Fiji Women Crisis Centre is working with relevant authorities to set up a seperate helpline that men can call.
Out of the 527 calls made to the National Domestic Violence Helpline in the month of April, about 230 were men.
Fiji Women Crisis Centre Coordinator- Shamima Ali has revealed that men made up 44 percent of the total number of calls made seeking help for abuse by their mothers and wives.
Ali says they plan to set up a help-line specifically for men who are going through emotional trauma that has affected their mental health.
The help-line will be manned by some of the male advocates who are well qualified.
The Fiji Women Crisis Centre will work with relevant authorities to set-up this help-line.
