A 9-year-old boy is believed to be the country’s latest drowning victim.

The unfortunate incident occurred near Nabua Village in Rewa yesterday afternoon.

The victim was swimming with friends when he disappeared.

His body was recovered by villagers some time after, near to where he had disappeared.

The national drowning death toll currently stands at 16 compared to 14 for the same period last year.

Parents and guardians are again requested to keep a close watch on their children’s activities and whereabouts at all times, or ensure they are left in the care of a responsible adult.
