Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee  former Executive Board Vice President, Makarita Lenoa, was voted as the new President of FASANOC at its  Annual General Assembly  held last night  in Suva.

Mrs Lenoa, who is also a World Karate Federation  Executive Committee Member and former Oceania Karate Federation President, won the election against  Joe Rodan, who had served as President over the last four years.   Mrs Lenoa is only the second female to hold the post of President FASANOC, following the footsteps of the Late Mrs Sophia Raddock who held the Presidency from 1988 – 1996.

Current Team Fiji General Manager to the 2019 Pacific Games, Calvin Yee, was elected Vice President, while 2016 Rio Olympic Games Chef de Mission Cathy Wong retained her position as a Vice President.

FASANOC Chief Executive Officer, Lorraine Mar, welcomed the new President, while also acknowledging Mr Rodan’s leadership over his two terms as President.   She looked forward to working closely with Mrs Lenoa and the Board over the rest of the year.

Mrs Lenoa expressed her gratitude to all the National Federations who had attended the AGA, saying she looked forward to working with them during her term as President.

Mrs Lenoa, also currently Chairperson of the FASANOC Sports Education Commission, thanked the outgoing President, Joseph Rodan, Ms Mar, the FASANOC Board, Pacific Games Chef de Mission Patrick Bower, IOC member Dr Robin Mitchell, Pacific Games Council President Mr Vidhya Lakhan, the scrutineers and the entire FASANOC team, who were present at the Assembly.
