The Fiji National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) is now on its second phase of response with distribution of food rations and emergency items for Fijians who had recently been affected by TC Harold.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Fiji Meteorological Services, the Director of NDMO Vasiti Soko said there are currently 6 vessels carrying out the food rations, distribution of non-food items and water tanks in affected areas such as Kadavu and Lau.
Director Soko is also urging members of the public to take extra precaution in light of the current wet weather conditions the country is facing.
Members of the public can contact the following agencies for more information:
1. Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) by phone on 5720 for the road status in the country.
2. Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) can be contacted by phone on 132 333 or 913 for enquiries.
3. The National Fire Authority (NFA) can be contacted by phone on 910 and the Fiji Police Force on 911 for emergency situations.
4. In case of landslides, the public is advised to first contact the Mineral Resources Department on 338 1611 or the NDMO on 915 before any steps are taken
to clear the slip.
