The Director of the National Disaster Management Office, Anare Lewaniqila is advising businesses that they will have to stop operating if water continues to rise.
Lewaniqila has confirmed that they are working the Ministry of Local Government to ensure that flood prone municipalities like Nadi, Ba, and Tavua are prepared.
Police are also requesting the members of the public to minimize movement in these areas as heavy rain is still expected to occur.
Lewaniqila adds that it is important that evacuation process is done in a good manner and that business take heed to warnings as well.
The NDMO is working with emergency operators to help people in evacuating and to be on stand by.
