Crossing the river and getting wet everyday on their way to school and to their plantation is a thing of the past for the villagers of Nawaikama on Gau Island.
It’s a huge relief for the school children and villagers after the men, both young and old got together to build a bridge, a crossing over this river for villagers and school children alike who cross this river daily to and from school, their plantation and to the road depot and to other villages.
It is a humbling sight seeing these young men continuing the work of their elders, who do not wait for government assistance but get out of their own way to help themselves.
