It was a special moment for the students of  Nausori Special school as the Government of Japan handed over a 3 classroom block worth more than $167,000 yesterday.

While officiating at the event, First Secretary to the Japanese Embassy-Genta Yamada says the School plays a special role in Ensuring that no child is left behind in line with the current Government’s Education Policy.

Yamada reaffirms Japan’s commitment to providing continued Assistance to the Education Sector to support the Sustainable Development of Fiji.

The Nausori Special School is the only school that provides education to students with special needs in the Province of Naitasiri, Tailevu and Rewa.

The school will be able to lower its student-teacher ratio to the appropriate level and raise the quality of the education.

With the new classroom blocks, this will be able to to accommodate students who are also in the waiting list who are currently in mainstream schools can now be accommodated with the new classrooms.

Also last week the Japanese Government also handed over a new four classroom block , rehabilitated and reinforced school buildings, a  5,000 liter water tank and 70 sets of students’ desk and chair and two sets of teachers’ desk and chair to Toko Sanatan Primary School in Tavua.

The Grant is part of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects.
