Villagers of Nasavu Village in Naitasiri have commended the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the Government for the assistance they have received in terms of pit latrines for restrooms.
Minister for Health and Medical Services Hon. Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete today officially opened pit latrines installed for the village by Field Ready Organisation in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and UNICEF.
In his address, Minister Waqainabete reminded villagers of the importance of cleanliness and practicing good hygiene.
“The aim of this project is to ensure that villagers have access to sanitary lavatories in order to minimise and possibly eradicate diseases such as typhoid, diarrhea and dysentery. These diseases occur because of the lack of good hygiene practices.”
The Ministry of Health and Medical Services is working with organisations and communities to encourage cleanliness and good hygienic practices to fight against water-borne diseases.
