Former Wallabies flanker Matt Hodgson has identified Fijian bruiser Isi Naisarani as the missing piece of Australia’s Rugby World Cup puzzle.
But fitting him into the Test backrow might mean a massive name misses out.
Hodgson, the retired Force workhorse who played 11 times for the Wallabies, gave Naisarani huge praise in his appearance on the Fox Rugby Podcast.
The duo were loose forward teammates on the 2017 Force team before the Perth club was cut from Super Rugby.
Naisarani, 23, played for the Brumbies this year and will join his former Force coach Dave Wessels at the Rebels next season.
He becomes eligible to play for the Wallabies in April next year and is firmly on coach Michael Cheika’s radar having travelled as a development player on the spring tour.
Either way, Naisarani’s impending eligibility is a welcome boost to a struggling Test side.
