The Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa lead her REACH Team, to provide essential Government and Non – Governmental services at Salevukoso, Delaivadra and Visoqo village in the District of Namuka in the Province of Macuata.

Minister Vuniwaqa said that REACH is a caring mechanism that brings Government closer to where people live despite their age, gender or ethnicity.

“The service delivery approach is undertaken to bridge Information gap, narrow the challenges faced by all Fijians and mostly importantly bring comfort and relief to all Fijians through social cohesion”

Minister Vuniwaqa further said that since Fijian Government endorsed the Sustainable Development Goals, it has also integrated its core responsibility to the Governments National Development plan where No Fijian will be left behind in the path to achieving sustainable development.

Minister Vuniwaqa also encouraged parents to build on quality family time and taking safety precautions measures during the festive seasons.

“The lives of our children and women matter the most in our individual families, therefore I will request us to look after them during the festive seasons. Times are changing, we need to build on more quality time with our families and take safety precautions during this festive seasons.

In a traditional welcome for the Minister, 73 year old, Salevukoso villager Tevita Rokuta thanked the Minister for being the first Minister in the current Government to visit.

“We are thankful to receive the Minister today because this is the first ever Minister that has set foot in our Village. With the inclusion of her entourage that are here to provide service delivery, it has brought us great comfort and joy”

A total of 157people (48 women,43 men and 66 children) in Nabubu, Lakeba, Nasovivi, Matanadoi, Cawedevo, Ravuka, Salevukoro Village of the Namuka District in the Macuata Province received the awareness raising and services delivery sessions through the REACH Mobile Service Delivery team on December 11th to 12th.

The REACH team that accompanied the Minister includes the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, Ministry of Justice – Birth, Death and Marriage Registry, Medical Services Pacific, Save the Children (Fiji), Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission, Fiji Police Force, Red Cross Soiety and the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation.

REACH is a mobile inclusive platform that is designed and resourced to bring critical Government and Non – Governmental services to those Fijians that are physically and geographically marginalized .
