THE Ministry of Local Government, Housing and Community Development and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today.
The MOU will facilitate the Ministry’s partnership with the UN women efforts for a change in market development for the Northern town of Savusavu.
Minister for Local Government, Housing and and Community Development, Parveen Kumar commended the partnership between the Ministry and UN Women.
“Today is a very significant day not only for the ministry but also for the UN women and the vendors in Savusavu, the reason being is that we are going to redevelop the Savusavu market with a total cost of around $1.1 million dollars and bulk of the money is being given by our partners UN women.”
“This redevelopment will definitely create a better environment for our vendors in Savusavu. We have been receiving some complains from our vendors in terms of ventilation.
Minister Kumar adds that the future design will capture the provision for proper lighting and ventilation.
