The Ministry of Environment and Waterways plans to introduce technology for the Naboro Waste Management Landfill.
The landfill services the Suva City Area, Nasinu Town Council, Nausori Town Council, Navua and Korovou.
The Ministry of Environment will soon implement “waste remediation and recycling technologies” at the Naboro Landfill.
Permanent Secretary Joshua Wycliffe says after thorough research the ministry will look at working with international partners for suitable technologies.
According to the Permanent Secretary, government spends around 5 million dollars on an average to construct new landfills.
“The landfill will soon be running out of the appropriate amount of space required under international standards which is directly related to the capacity and usable life of the landfill.”
The Ministry believes such new technological investments into the country would no doubt bring in more employment opportunities for the nation.
