The Ministry of Women and Fiji Women Crisis Centre are focusing on ways to imporve their reach to rural areas.

Statistics show that there are less reports of domestic violence by women living in rural areas because due to no network availability.

The 1325 and 1560 help-line have only been accessable to people who have the medium to do so.

The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation through the REACH Programme sends advocates to rural areas to create awareness.

Fiji Women Crisis Centre Coordinator- Shamima Ali says that traditional leaders have a role to play in helping abused women and children.

There are also discussions underway to help improve services in rural and maritime areas
