Dengue is one of the most deadly disease in the country and dengue outbreak can occur at any time due to Fiji’s tropical climate.

This was revealed by the Ministry of Health’s Chief Health Inspector Dip Chand during the commemoration of “World Mosquito Day” in Suva yesterday.

Chand says the Ministry of Health is planning to use innovative technology to prevent dengue outbreak.

He added dengue outbreak poses great threat to the health of the nation while also causing economic impact.

Chand says people should continue to use traditional methods of keeping their surroundings clean and educate people in the communities.

“World Mosquito Day” was held to allow Fijians to learn about the role of the “World Mosquito Program” and raise awareness on diseases such as dengue, chikungunya and zika.
