Four officers from the Ministry of Forests together with their counterparts from the REDD+ and Ministry of Forests in Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea, are currently on a study tour in Germany.

The study tour is to familiarize themselves with the methods, tools and techniques for sustainable forest management and downstream processing, the value adding along the timber value chain and the protection of important forest areas for their ecosystem services.

The group have been able to get an inside view of current climate change science in relation to forests and the modelling processes which are used to predict future changes in the climate system and thereby also effect the forests and future forest management in the Pacific region.
