Fijians have been encouraged to be champions of biodiversity and to be leaders in advancing the protection, expansion and branding of our biological resources.

These were the sentiments shared by Minister for Agriculture, Waterways and Environment, Hon. Dr Mahendra Reddy while officiating at the event for International Biological Diversity Day at Bali Towers in Suva.

“In this quest for rapid economic growth, some may resort to compromising our natural resources to make windfall gains at the expense of our environment for both the current and future generations,” said Minister Reddy.

“This should never be allowed. We must guard against this. We have to strike a balance. Contribute to balance and sustainable growth.”
