Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete launched the University of the South Pacific Annual Health and Wellness week in Suva today.
Speaking at the opening , Waqainabete commended the university’s effort in engaging students and staff to move towards healthy lifestyles to ensure better health for all.
“Make USP not only a knowledge based institution but also an environment that promotes health and well-being. It’s not only what we leaders leave behind that matters but what you future leaders can do for your younger siblings to follow is equally important”, he said.
The event was attended by students and staff of the university including medical personnel from the Ministry.
USP had been holding this event since 2013 and activities throughout the week include, mental health Awareness, oral Health, free medical checks, food and nutrition advice, blood drive and cooking demonstration.
