The Minister for Fisheries Semi Koroilavesau, met with members of the OPES OCEANI, which is a company based in Wellington, New Zealand, to discuss how the two can work together to improve Fiji’s Ocean Policy.
Specialised in providing information and knowledge-based service, the company work with governments, industries, and businesses within its changing environment.
The discussions centered on the progress of Fiji fisheries, in the context of a blue economy, international obligations, and lessons from similar countries.
Through these discussions, the ministry will continue to work with OPES OCEANI, in areas of fisheries development.
The company is assisted by a team of scientists, academics, and other experts around the world, and come up with strategies that will assist in decision-making with governments, UN-affiliated organisations, industries, associations, corporations, non-governmental organisations, and other entities.
