Youths in Nasaumatua village on #Ovalau have been urged to take a proactive approach in dealing with any of their current circumstances.

The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Parveen Kumar Bala, during the handover of farming assistance at Nasaumatua village in Ovalau yesterday, said this is especially important during the #COVID19 global pandemic.

The farming assistance, which comes under the Youth Farming Initiative Project, was given in the form of farming tools such as spades, fork, cane knives and seedlings.

Minister Bala said these farming tools would assist these youths in a myriad of ways including family food security, improvement of livelihood in the community, create employment opportunities and improve the youth and community bond.

“Most importantly it will deter the youths from engaging in unlawful activities and of course serve as a source of income,” he said.

The 20 recipients of the framing assistance were made up of members from the Nasaumatua Youth Club.
