The Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Parveen Kumar Bala, while opening an empowerment training workshop held at Natuvi Village in Moturiki, Ovalau yesterday, said the sole reason for this exercise is to have a vibrant youth sector in the near future which contributes to the economy, reducing poverty and equalising living standards.
The workshop which is known as the ‘Empowerment training program for Climate Change’ will ensure that the youth participants are trained and empowered to tackle climate change issues and its impacts.
The 50 youth participants were made up of members from Navuti Youth Club, Nasesara Youth Club and Niubasaga Youth Club.
Furthermore, Minister Bala also handed over to these youth clubs farming assistance which comes under the Youth Farm Initiative Project.
The assistance included farming tools such as spades, forks, and materials for a greenhouse and seedlings, all of which would add value to what is already being done on their respective farms.
