The consumption of yaqona or grog in the Methodist Church Minister’s quarters and halls is still an issue that needs to be addressed.
This was reiterated by the President of the Methodist Church in Fiji Reverend Dr Epineri Vakadewavosa while opening the Annual Conference this morning.
Reverend Vakadewavosa says it was agreed in 2014, that there is to be no yaqona consumption until the evening service is done.
“We agreed in the 2013 Bose Ko Viti that yaqona consumption should end at 10pm and I’m glad that in many divisions, yaqona consumption is not allowed. “
He reminded the members of the church to refrain from abusing the consumption of yaqona and to not use tradition as an excuse.
“Let us keep the Sunday holy and lets refrain from abusing the consumption of yaqona and let’s not use tradition as an excuse. “
