Journalist from various Media Organizations were part of a Media workshop organized by the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association held in Suva Today.

About 12 participants were briefed on the various work the Association is currently doing and issues on environment and tourism sustainability were discussed.

FHTA CEO-Fantasha Lockington says the workshop is not only to get the media to understand what the industry is about but also the other way around for them to get reintroduced to the new faces that come in every year into the media.

She says they also want to make sure they provide some of the background of what their industry is doing not only in terms of visitor arrivals, what it means  for the industry in terms of employment challenges  or the opportunities that are out there.

During his presentation, FHTA President-Dixon Seeto shared on the various challenges faced by the Tourism Industry such as disease outbreak, changing weather patterns and the fragile marine ecosystems amongst others.
The Association hopes the Media Briefing will allow Journalist to better understand the work they do and be able to report factually.
