The Land Transport Authority impounded 10 vehicles today as part of its Urban Clearways operations in Suva.
There were 16 vehicles involving trucks that were abandoned on Suva roads as well and these vehicles were towed away to city council yards to clear these roads by the LTA.
LTA CEO Samuel Simpson is imploring vehicle owners to abide by the law and be responsible in relation to parking of vehicles.
Vehicles that have been towed to the impounding yard will result in owners having to pay towing charges, storage charges and impounding fees, Tin’s etc.
This initiative is part of a package of congestion busting measures.
New signage and road markings will begin appearing in the next few days delineating the roads covered by the Clearway Regulations.
