An enforcement and compliance blitz was undertaken last week in the Nadi and Lautoka area for illegal taxi operation parking and damaging footpaths and kerbs causing significant damage to highway infrastructure which costs thousands of dollars to Fiji taxpayers.
Vehicles without number plates illegal number plates and Rental Cars being used illegally as taxis were all apprehended.
In the cases of illegal taxi operation discovered as well as issuing Traffic Infringement Notices the Authority has passed the names, addresses and details of these offenders to the Fiji Revenue & Customs who will want to investigate the miscreants for possible tax evasion.
Vehicles found parking and damaging highway infrastructure will have their details passed to the FRA together with photographic evidence which could result in legal action to recover the costs of damage.
The LTA will be continuing undercover intelligence surveillance to discover illegal taxis, vehicles causing damage to highway infrastructure in the weeks and months ahead targeting particular areas of significant interest in the Western Division.
Remember your penalty is not confined to the TIN issued by LTA it now includes the fines from our sister agencies of FRCS and FRA.
