Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Local Government, Housing and Community Development, Premila Kumar has urged fashion designers to join the Fijian Made, Buy Fijian Campaign to promote their locally made products.

Speaking at the first ever awards night for designers organized by Fiji Fashion Council in Suva today, Minister Kumar says the designers can apply for Fijian Designed logo that will add more credibility to their products.

“Fijian Made, Buy Fijian campaign currently has a total of 627 licensed Fijian companies on board with 3439 diverse products. 7 companies have been awards the Fijian Designed emblem. Fiji has re-invented its textile and clothing industry to produce niche high-end and designer garments. Fiji has created a brand that is synonymous with quality, high standards and exclusivity associated with our pristine environment,” Minister Kumar said.

She added that the fashion industry has a huge potential in the country and needed inputs from all stakeholders.

She has also assured the fashion enthusiasts that the Fijian Government will provide all forms of assistance to the industry.
