One of the main challenges still faced by the LGBTQI community, is creating a Database specifically for their group in the country.
This was revealed recently by the Haus of Khameleon Founder – Sulique Waqa.
Waqa says they have made progress to accessing of services especially when their members experience violence.
“So the Access to Justice, we are looking at the legal Aid Commission, the Police Force, the hospital all around Fiji and the counseling services when we talk about violence. When we met with Empower Pacific based in Lautoka who also have an MOU with the Ministry of Health where they provide counseling services on sight. In their reporting template they have the options of Transgender that you can tick and its the same case when we went to Labasa, Nadi, all had this Template which I thought was very useful”
The LGBTQI Community will have three major Research Projects that will be released this year focused on accessing Services and the various challenges still faced by their members in the community.
