“The world is now facing a lot of problems that cannot be fixed, unless we fight of it together.”
These were the remarks made by Broderick Mervyn, Head Youth Delegate for Fiji at the Global Goals Model United Nations Meeting held in Malaysia this year with the theme “Let’s Realise 17 Global Goals For A Brighter World”
As youths, Mervyn adds they cannot lean back and assume that they have all the knowledge and insight they need but on the contrary, it is vital to invest in research and knowledge that can inform policy development and decision – making.
The event also provided Model United Nations parliamentary based forums with topics related to the 17 Global Goals set by the United Nations to encourage delegates to understand each point of the Sustainable Development Goals, to share ideas among delegates, to network and to improve delegates’ communication as well as diplomatic skills.
Four Fijian youths were fortunate to be among the 2,750 youth delegates from around the World.
