The Labasa Golden Age Home is undergoing a $4.7 million face-lift to provide senior citizens a state of the art facility.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony this morning, the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa said this was a timely project to upgrade the home and turn it into a modern age-friendly facility for residents.
“Today marks a dream come true for the residents and staff who have been part of this Home for the last decade, as it will mark the realization of complying with national minimum standards in aged care facilities as well as preparing for an increasingly Aged society,” Vuniwaqa said.
“The new complex is designed to have 20 male and 20 female residents and is approximately 1680 square meters in floor area.”
It is expected to be completed by July 2021.
