Labasa’s golden boy Roy Krishna is the leading contender in open field for Johnny Warren Medal.
Krishna’s prolific season for Wellington Phoenix may have pushed him to the front of a crowded field of candidates for the A-League’s most prestigious individual award.
Tonight’s Dolan-Warren Awards will see the Johnny Warren Medal bestowed upon the A-League’s best player throughout the 2018-19 season.
Krishna, who won the golden boot with 18 goals in a career-best campaign for Wellington, is probably the favourite.
The Fijian international was a huge part of the Phoenix’s rise to the finals under departed coach Mark Rudan – so much so that opposition clubs are lining up to try and tear him away.
Krishna could become the third Wellington Phoenix player – after Shane Smeltz in 2008-09 and Nathan Burns in 2014-15 – to win the Johnny Warren Medal.
