Minister of Fisheries, Semi Koroilavesau is part of a 2-days regional conference on marine litter which started yesterday in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

The event is being organised as part of the Commonwealth Litter Programme which is led by the United Kingdom’s Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs through the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science.

This interactive two-day conference will provide an opportunity for us as participants to hear and discuss the knowledge gained from the CLiP project’s research in Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands, share knowledge about prevention and mitigation approaches to marine litter.

This also includes the successes and challenges of community-based projects, and discuss policy options and engagement that which could be replicated across island nations of the Pacific.
