High Court Judge Justice Vincent Perera has remanded former Police Officer Kelepi Kolinisau.
This is after he was found guilty of manslaughter.
Justice Perera said Kolinisau stomped and kicked the deceased on the morning of the incident.
Meanwhile the second accused, Selema Tikoenaburevere, also a police officer has been found not guilty of murder and manslaughter causing actual bodily harm.
Tikoenaburevere has been aquitted of all charges.
Justice Perera while delivering his judgement said the two acted independently and did not act to common intention.
The high court judge said the second accused, Tikoenaburevere acted in self defence and is not criminally responsible.
The two were charged for the alledged assault of 26- year old Josua Lalauvaki on the 2nd of September.
Lalauvaki later passed away on the 11th October at the CWM Hostpital.
Kelepi Kolinisau’s lawyer Barbara Malimali while presenting the mitigating factor said the court should consider that Kolinisau is a first time offender, has three children under the age of ten and is the breadwinner of the family.
Former Police Officer Kolinisau has been remanded and will appear on the 20th of November.
