A government team headed to Kia Island in the province of Macuatu today to provide them with the much needed assistance after they were badly hit by Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

The Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum was present to see food packs and other essential items been loaded for those who have been affected by severe Tropical Yasa.

The items include kerosene stoves, buckets, basins, solar lanterns and tarpaulins.

The people of Kia after the cyclone were in urgent need of food and water.

Government officials from Viti Levu have also been deployed as part of the 120 personnel deployment to Vanua Levu to assist in conducting assessments in the North.
