A team of government agencies left Suva last night for Kadavu, to carry out assessment work on the ground following the Earthquake and tremor, that was experienced on the island on October 13th.
The Fiji National Disaster Management Office, Mineral Resources Department, the Lands Department, Water Authority of Fiji, and the Ministry of Education will be carrying out ‘Risk screening’, vegetation assessment, site awareness, community awareness on hazards, ground water source survey, geo-tech assessment, school building inspection and psycho-social support.
The priority areas of assessment will be – Lomati, Talaulia, Dagai, Tawava and Ratu Eliki Memorial School.
The joint assessment team is led by the National Disaster Management office.
