The Government of Japan handed over a new classroom block to the students and staff of Lawaki District School in Tailevu yesterday.
The Government of Japan supported the reconstruction of the school that was severely damaged by TC Winston in 2016 under their Adopt A School Program.
Japan’s Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission-Tsuguyoshi Hada says the new facilities will provide a boost for the improvement of the students educational environment and the onus is for them to perform to the best of their abilities.
The facility includes a duplex teachers’ quarters, roofed walkways, reinforced classroom blocks, teachers’ quarters and toilet block, as well as desks and chairs for 180 students and 3 teachers. The new Facility funding was worth more than $1 million.
