THE Government remains committed to ensuring inclusiveness and equality as more than 100,000 Fijians live with some form of disability.
As the country marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation’s permanent secretary Dr Josefa Koroivueta highlighted that out 884,887 people in Fiji, 13 per cent live with disabilities.
“The Fijian Government has made a commitment to achieve the theme of the event that is Empowering Persons with Disabilities and Ensuring Inclusiveness and Equality,” Dr Koroivueta said.
The event also marked the launch of the Right of Persons with Disabilities ACT 2018 (Act No. 4 of 2018).
