Two men have been acquitted of rape by Suva High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe yesterday.

The names of the men and the woman have been suppressed by the Suva High Court.

Both men were each charged with one count of rape.

They were accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in a village in Tailevu in 2016.

In his judgement today, Justice Rajasinghe said there is reasonable doubt about the reliability and credibility of the evidence given by the complainant.

He said he does not find any cogent reasons to disagree with the majority opinion of not guilty given by the assessors.
