A heavy rain alert remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaitiviti group, Yasawa group and the eastern half of Viti Levu.
Situation: A trough of low pressure lies just to the north of Vanua Levu and is expected to gradually drift south. Associated cloud and showers affects the northern and eastern parts of the country. Another trough of low pressure approaches the group from the west and is expected to affect fiji for the next few days.
Forecast for Fiji:
For Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group and the eastern half of Viti Levu:
Occasional showers and few thunderstorms. Showers expected to gradually increase to rain and become frequent and heavy tonight.
For the rest of Fiji:
Cloudy periods with showers especially in the afternoon and evening. Isolated afternoon heavy falls and thunderstorms likely.
Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.
