SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN NUMBER ONE FOR HEAVY RAIN ISSUED FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER FORECASTING CENTRE NADI AT 9.30 AM ON MONDAY 6TH APRIL, 2020.

HEAVY RAIN ALERT.

A HEAVY RAIN ALERT IS NOW IN FORCE FOR THE WESTERN HALF OF VITI LEVU, YASAWA AND MAMANUCA GROUP, KADAVU AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS AND THE SOUTHERN LAU GROUP.

SITUATION: SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE HAROLD WAS LOCATED NEAR 15.5S 166.4E OR ABOUT 1190 KM WEST OF NADI AT 9 AM TODAY. SEVERE TC HAROLD IS MOVING EAST AT 13 KM/HR. SEVERE TC HAROLD CENTRE IS EXPECTED TO PASS JUST TO THE SOUTH OF THE GROUP ON WEDNESDAY. THE ASSOCIATED RAIN BANDS ARE EXPECTED TO AFFECT THE COUNTRY FROM LATER TOMORROW.

FORECAST FOR THE WESTERN HALF OF VITI LEVU, YASAWA AND MAMANUCA GROUP, KADAVU AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS AND THE SOUTHERN LAU GROUP:

CLOUDY PERIODS WITH SOME SHOWERS AND ISOLATED AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS TODAY. SHOWERS EXPECTED TO INCREASE TO RAIN AND BECOME FREQUENT AND HEAVY WITH
SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS FROM TOMORROW.
