The Ministry of Health and Medical Services received emergency medical assistance equipment worth $1million from the Australian Government in partnership with the World Health Organization this week.
The state of the art equipment will assist the Fiji Emergency Medical Assistance Team to provide proper and proficient medical assistance during major emergency situations, national disasters either nationally or regionally.
Waqainabete reiterated the fact that Fiji having in recent years been bombarded with cyclones including the massive cyclone Winston was all due to the fact that we are in a disaster prone region.
He says he is proud of not only having had a national response preparatory response deployment team but more so of the fact that we have been able to deploy them out to areas affected by cyclones in the pacific.
Waqainabete says that the punctual donation from Australia is much appreciated.
He says the assistance also is timely in terms of the ministries goals.
The minister further says that the ministry has also formed a technical working group.
