“The guidelines that we are launching today are very relevant and timely to build climate change resilience into our health system and ultimately into our Fijian population.”
This was highlighted by the Minister for Health and Medical Services, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete at the launch of the Guidelines for Climate Resilient and Environmentally Sustainable Health Care Facilities Fiji (CRESHCF) at Dinem House, Suva.
“This is a landmark achievement, and it sets the tone for regional growth, dialogue and collaboration among Smaller Island Developing States as we continue to fight the increasing effects of climate change within our region.”
Minister Waqainabete added that climate change for the Pacific is a matter of life or death.
Minister Waqainabete also said that climate change impacts on health can never be over-emphasised and with the recent cyclones there is a need to build back better with approved global best practices and standards.
