A government team has embarked on a visit to Ovalau and Moturiki in the Lomaiviti group to follow-up on the cyclone rehabilitation works carried on the islands.
Headed by the Office of the Prime Minister, the team also consists of officials from the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Ministry of Economy and local hardware suppliers such as Vinod Patel and RC Manubhai.
This is part of government’s follow-up program for its TC Winston grant recipients.
On Ovalau today the team met with villages and members of the community gathered at LevukaVakaviti, Vuma and Rukuruku village hall.
This is to cater for villages of Vagadaci, Wailailai, Waitovu, Vuma, Toki, Vatukalo, Cawaci, Nauouo, Rukuruku, Taviya, Arovudi, Sinuda, Tuvaka, Korovou,Nosonoso, Nadevo, Lovoni, Vunisavulevu , Nasaumatua, Navuloa, Waidau, Nukutocia, Visoto, Nacobo, and Waidra.
The team will meet with the people of the 10 villages of the island of Moturiki tomorrow and ending with the village of Tokou, Natokalau, Naikorokoro and Draiba.
This is also an opportunity for villagers to meet and discuss some of the challenges encountered during the rehabilitation program for TC Winston.
