The Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Ashneel Sudhakar at the closing of the GIS and Remote Sensing Conference said that the week-long conference was all about ‘connection’.

He says coming together of GIS and remote sensing advocates has created a platform that is people-based; equipped them to be more knowledge and technology-based.

The Minister says regional solidarity is often quoted in these events when the Pacific comes together, but it is only during these times when we actually see it in action”.

“Perhaps in the margins of next year’s Conference Pacific Lands Ministers might also gather for a day in the margins of the Conference to understand the regional GIS and Remote Sensing data capabilities, the issues, challenges and opportunities to support specialists in this field, and help Ministers to prioritise policies and laws, grounded on GIS and Remote Sensing Data.”
