The Fiji Police Force has declined the Fiji Trades Union Congress application, to hold a march in Suva on the 1st of May, 2021.
In a letter to the FTUC – the Fiji Police Force did not give a reason to General Secretary – Felix Anthony, on why his application for a march and rally, has been declined.
According to Anthony, the reason given verbally was that there was concern about the pandemic.
This is the sixth occassion where a “permit to march application” by the FTUC has been declined.
May 1st is also known as ‘Labour Day’ or ‘May Day’ – to commemorate the struggle of all workers all over the world.
