The Fiji Sugar Corporation announced that it has made good financial progress so far for the year 2018.
This has been the result of the combination of improving revenue and managing cost diligently.
FSC – as mapped out in their marketing strategy, has also found success in diversifying its market, a move the current management undertook since coming on board.
With the first consignment of sugar export leaving the country in two weeks time, the Fiji Sugar Corporation is confident of a favorable outlook for these season.
The Asian markets namely China and Japan have opened up for our sugar export as the result of market expansion by the corporation.
FSC has also secured the first fair trade accredited sugar sale for 2018, this sale of fifteen thousand tonnes of raw sugar will directly benefit fair trade associations and grower members. This shipment will be co-loaded with the first consignment this month.
Data released by FSC on crop forecast indicates signs of improvement, with cane yields to date growing by 7% above estimate.
Should this trend be maintained, 1.75 million tonnes of cane could be harvested this year.
