Fiji Rugby Union’s strategy includes enhancing the development of Women in Rugby beginning from grassroot level to elite level.

Women currently make up 25 per cent of the rugby playing population worldwide.

Women Coaches in Fiji are using the World Rugby toolkit that is designed to assist unions in increasing the number of female rugby coaches globally.

Fiji Rugby Union Chief Executive Officer- John O’Connor says that our local women coaches are taking advantage of the opportunity.

There are about 8 women who are qualified level two coaches in the country.

O’Connor adds that some current players have shown interest.

Development programs will continue once the situation surrounding COVID-19 improves.

A core pillar is to develop inspirational leadership on and off the field , including the areas of coaching and refereeing.
