A former Temporary Relieving Packer at the Fiji Pharmaceutical & Biomedical Services was produced in the Suva Magistrates Court today on corruption related charges.
The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) charged Ms Vasiti Tabuakuro with one (1) count each of Obtaining a Financial Advantage and General Dishonesty – Causing a Loss.
It is alleged that while employed by the Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services, the Accused received revenue and issued receipts from a Ministry of Health receipt book but did not enter the details of these payments into the Revenue Collector’s Cash Analysis Book from December 2017 to January 2018.
Her actions resulted in her allegedly obtaining $4,050.45 FJD and therefore, causing an alleged loss to the Ministry of Health. FICAC State Counsel Mr Adrian Sharma informed the Court that first phase disclosures had been served and requested that strict bail conditions be imposed.
Resident Magistrate Mr Joseph Daurewa released the Accused on bail with a cash bail of $200, ordered her not to interfere with Prosecution witnesses and to surrender her travel documents.
A Stop Departure Order was also issued. The matter was adjourned to 9 July 2020.
