The former iTaukei Affairs Board Assistant Treasurer pleaded
guilty to charges of corruption in the Labasa Magistrates Court yesterday.
The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC)
charged Mr Taniela Jerema in 2018 with a count each of Obtaining a Financial
Advantage and Causing a Loss.
He admitted to receiving payments and keeping it for
himself, instead of depositing it into the respective accounts from September
2016 to March 2017 amounting to $9,280.00 FJD.
Resident Magistrate Mr Bimsara Jagodage gave time to
Prosecution and Defence to file and serve their Sentencing and Mitigation
submissions.
The matter was adjourned to 10 February 2020.
