They put their lives on the line daily whether it’s putting out fires, responding to emergencies or rescuing people.
Today we celebrate International Firefighters’ Day, observed on May 4 every year.

NFA Acting CEO – Mileta Seniroqa thanks all Firefighters for their tremendous effort each time to keep communities safe. Teams from the various stations around the country took part in a clean up Campaign in their own areas today.
Acting Chief Executive Officer – Mileta Seniroqa says NFA responds to many fires each year and acknowledges the contributions by all the Fire Officers. She also acknowledged all Fire-fighters everywhere who have fallen or have been injured during their duty.
The Suva Based Fire officers were in John Wesley Primary School cleaning up the school Compound this morning. About 22 officers from the Suva Station were part of the clean up.
Station Officer Ame Baleitamavua says its their way to give back to the community and hope members of the public understand the important role they play in the community. There are 501 Firefighters around Fiji.
