The Chinese Embassy in Fiji has confirmed through the Chinese Education Department that Fijian students studying in Wuhan are in good condition and have no related symptoms.

After the outbreak of
pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus, the Chinese government has attached
high importance and made comprehensive deployment on prevention and control.

Instructing on the work
related to the pneumonia situation on Jan 20, President Xi Jinping has ordered
resolute efforts to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus that caused cases
of pneumonia. Xi ordered heightened attention and all-out prevention and
control efforts. The Party committees and governments at all levels must put
people’s safety and health as the top priority and take effective measures to
curb the spread of the virus.

Premier Li Keqiang, also
instructed related government departments and localities to improve response
plans and spare no effort in prevention and control in this regard.

Acting with openness,
transparency and a high sense of responsibility towards global health security,
Chinese authorities shared information of the epidemic with the WHO, relevant
nations and China’s Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions in a timely manner,
including the genome sequence of the new coronavirus.

Upon invitation from the
WHO, China joined other affected countries at an International Health
Regulations (IHR) Emergency Committee meeting on the night of January 22
Beijing time. Relevant countries, the WHO and experts shared information and
come up with a science-based evaluation at the meeting.

China will continue to
deepen international cooperation and work in concert with the international
community to deal with the epidemic and safeguard regional and global health
security.
